Default A first attempt at birding...

A very first attempt to shoot birds... then I realised I knew nuts about composing shots with birds

Of the not so many frames taken today at Jurong Bird Park (seen from the tag on the bird's leg vs. a wild bird)... I thought this was one of the keepers, with a clean(er) background and some foreground element together with the bird. Am I doing this right? Or have I gotten it all wrong. Appreciate any critique and pointers on how to improve. Thanks

    Shot handheld, 1/80s f/4 @ 300mm ISO1600 no flash.

The rest of the shots can be found here

the pic seems a little underexposed? (or it could be my monitor...) other than that...good focus! nice composition too.

    Not too bad.

However the focus seems not to be its eyes.

    Thanks for looking

Yup.. on 2nd look, you're right. The eyes are slightly out of focus. *Sigh* Another shot for the trash bin. Heh.
