Yes - however think more Westerner's will be joining this than Asians.

So hoping the Asian numbers will rise. It has a lot of opportunities for all the filmers/video-ers in this forum. Go for it CS!

Time is short - only found out about it this month and all entries must be in by 27th August - COB UK time.

Spoke to lady organising the comp. If you have more than one idea you can send in multiple entries by completing the entry form on the web multiple times

How'd you get into contact with the lady organising the competition? I sent a synopsis via the entry form, but I want to confirm that i nailed all the criteria, and I was a bit unsure of a couple of fields in the form such as the bit that asked for the 'two referees'. I just wanna confirm that i submitted my application successfully.

Nada. Probably went a bit ambitious or misread the theme...heh....Personally I kinda like my idea though..

The Concept:
This idea follows an inventor in a future devastated by the effects of pollution, who decides to send a message back to the past to prevent the damage to the future from happening in the first place. He dispatches a camera mounted in a robotic enclosure around the world to visually document the extent that the earth has degraded to, and subsequently sends it back to the past in a time machine as a chilling warning of what the earth could become if pollution proceeds unabated.

Synopsis:
The scene occurs in a post-apocalyptic future, with the camera panning and flying across destroyed landscapes, with the inclusion of several iconic landmarks such as the Angkor Wat, the Big Ben and the Egyptian pyramids - all of which have become deteriorated husks of their former glory. A female voice sounding slightly digitized provides narration in the background, and explains the situation to the viewer. It gives a timeline of events that have happened throughout the various years in the future. There are occasional jumps in the video, along with futuristic looking static and interference in the image.

E.g.:
o 2030 – Polar Icecaps Melt
o 2045 – Rainforests succumb to the effects of acid rain
o 2070 – Toxic waste causes millions of deaths and causes the air to be nearly impossible for human consumption.
o Etc.

The camera settles on a dilapidated, burnt out shelter after traveling through an empty, desolate city. A weathered signboard on the building reads: 'Established, 2072'. Within which is a laboratory, filled with semi futuristic albeit well worn equipment amidst piles of scrap metal and junk. The camera travels to a corner of the room where there is an old man dressed in a tattered lab coat tweaking a machine which is in a similar state as the rest of the room. He grabs the camera, looks into it and says with a strained voice: ‘I hope this message reaches them in time.’ He then places the camera into the machine, and keys in the date: 2007. It cuts back to the point of view of the camera which is in the machine, and focused on the man’s face, which conveys a somber yet hopeful expression. There is massive static and the screen goes black, and then reappears, showing the image of a current day city, interspersed with healthy greenery. The screen then fades to black as a figure approaches the camera, wondering what it is.

Production Notes:
Most, if not all of the film would be shot in a single take, from the perspective of the camera. The color scheme would be extremely drab, and the film will emulate the ‘bleach bypass’ look to accentuate the imagery. Stock footage of flybys of the various landmarks can be used, and dirtied up in post production, and the scene of the inventor in the building can be shot on a green screen to reduce the cost of creating physical props on the scale required for the location.
