The F2AS is a basic F2 with a DP-12 prism while the F2A uses the DP-11 prism. The primary difference is that the F2A uses a needle to show the exposure whereas the F2AS uses LED diodes to determine exposure, much like the Nikon FM. Owned both at one time. I preferred the needle readout of the F2A (personal preference).

If you find a F2A with a working and accurate meter, buy it! Most of the photomic needle meters are either erratic or dead by now.

I would suggest to get the (more expensive) F2AS (with DP-12) or the F2-SB (DP-3) as the cells are easier to repair, the DP1 (F2-Photomic), DP-2 (F2-S) and DP-11 (F2-A) all use CdS cells which are harder to repair, in case of a breakdown......
The F2-SB is of the non-Ai era though if you don't mind..... HS |
