Post less, spend more time looking throught the Portraits posts!
I like these forums, strangers get togehter and share common interests, and something too. If any forum starts to bore you, its probably cos you dun feel like you are learning/benefitting at all.

But I find that forums can be a pretty good place to learn. This is where everybody comes with a free mind and free to share ideas. Sometimes comments are so much better than anything that you read from books since they are more personal.

Composition hard to learn just like that, and can be subjective. I guess the value add in this case is you get to see enthusiastic photographers put up their work and u appreciate what is pleasing and what is not

But do watch out that each comment can be subjective. So learn to pick out the good ones out of the lot.

As above. Does it apply to photographer of all experience level? Maybe a newbie will benefit more but the old timer not so much?
No. It doesn't make one a better photographer.

But it makes one a bigger buaya.

The same story goes.... Will a $10K camera automatically produce better picture than a $1K camera? Not really true..... Therefore, if you vist clubsnap more , it does not automatically make you a better photographer.

I have stopped photography for about 5 years . It is because of clubsnap that I start to take out my camera and shoot again.

Well. 1 thing I've learnt from this forum is to use aperture f14 + flash to take macro pics, it really works

Depends on what you DO with the forums, not what the forums does for you.

If you spend all your time in Kopitiam, never post up any photos for critique, like perhaps a lot of people here who probably will not read this post, since it's not Kopitiam, you will possibly even get worse at photography.

Shooting, and learning, and having a positive attitude as well as proper self-reflection and critique will improve you.

Posting in kopitiam does not improve the post count anyway.

But I do notice a lot of parrots in the othe sub-forums these days who repeat the same information or spam constantly to increase their post count. So are they better as a photog? Who knows, I dun see their pics...

Visiting forum does NOT make you a better photographer if you do not grab your cam and go out and start shooting. In Photography, practical is more important than theory. Even if you do not have the textbook knowledge at all, you can still learn by making lot of mistakes, in practical, and learn by the hard way and still improves. This is the technical aspect. As for aesthetic aspect, it is in-born, no one can teach you. Maybe you can cultivate it, just maybe.

At least for me... it works...

Simply get some people to critic your image, and you can be haunted for life by their comments!!!!

And I will PROVE THEM WRONG one day.....
Art is perception; Perception is art.

shoot too much and don't know what's the photographer shooting also no good, especially no improvement on the skills at all.
Yah true.. I find it very useful and fast if you need a critic of our pictures. Positive and negative ones. But sometimes, maturity levels and style preference of the people here can be quite different also.

Yes if you are here to learn,
No if you think buying a Camera makes you a photographer.

I learn a lot here and also spent a lot of $$$ becos I come here.
