I took some pictures recently and found little soft black marks on the actual photo. I took a few more pictures to see if they still showed up and they do. I've uploaded a sample of what I'm talking about... http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/8787/pic003it2.jpg (**Make sure to view it at the full 100%!**)
I bought a "poofer" thing to get all the little dust particles out of the camera but it's still showing up! Help!! What can I do!?! |

There is nothing wrong with your D80. This is just dust and the normal blower may not be able to blow it off the sensor. If it is still under warranty bring it to Nikon Service Centre for free cleaning of the sensor. If not you can get those sensor swap or sensor cleaning stuff to clean the sensor.

If you are capturing your images on NEF or RAW files and processing them on Nikon CaptureNX, you may experiment with the "dust off" function in Nikon CaptureNX which can mask out the some or all of the dust effect via a dust reference file.

Try using a bigger aperture (smaller F number) when you shoot.
Dust spots tend to appear in pictures shot with smaller aperture, like the one you posted which is at f/32. And even at f/32 I can say that your sensor is pretty clean. Don't worry too much about it. If your camera is still under warranty just send it in for cleaning at NSC if the dust spots do appear at bigger apertures. Last edited by fndjufri; 5th August 2007 at 07:23 PM. |

What is the waiting time for NSC to get cleaning done? Hours or days?
Thanks.

To clean the CCD? It takes around half an hour to an hour. This included the time when they upgraded my D80 firmware.
