Hi all!
I'm new to photography, would definitely need some pointers regarding getting a camera. I am looking for Nikon P5000, because I got to play with it when I went to hongkong last week, and I loved it. Regretted not buying it... Would like to know where I can find the above model at a good price. Checked the price list done by the forum members, but there wasnt such a model at all listed. Would appreciate any comments on the camera as well. THanks for reading. ![]() |

The last time I checked, it was selling at $628 at Best Denki. U can it cheaper at CP, MS, TK or Alan-SL.
The cam is not very popular here. Almost want to get it couple months back but end up with Fuji F31fd. This due to the reasons of some negative reviews by dpreview and other review sites. Particularly due to the shutter lag, AF speed and the zoom range. But again these reviews can overlook if speed is not priority and u can always buy add-on lenses for the tele n wide. |

$530 with GST from Cathay Photo a couple of months back. The camera is nice to use, coupled with a SB400 flash, you can use ISO100 for almost anything. Downside is the slower than average autofocus. Video and sound are excellent for a PnS.

Thanks for ur comments.
I actually need the camera to take pictures of my dogs, is the transition time between the pictures very long? Is the capture speed very slow? Am currently using Coolpix 4300, very ancient model, but I juz love the colours from Nikon pictures. Downside, is that the transition time between pictures is very slow, and focus speed as well. How to judge the focus speed? I am new to this, and unsure of how to judge what kind of focus speed is acceptable. Where is this Cathay Photo at? Peninsula Plaza? Thanks alot alot in advance!! |

Hmmx... Sony is definitely out for me... because I dun like the kind of image produced...
Parchiao, my dogs are always on the move. Compared to D40, would P5000 be very much slower? I have used D40, I think it is ok for me.. |
