Default How much for a 2nd hand 1DMKII

How much would a 1DMKII fetched, say with an 8 condition and a missing batt charger?
Happened to know someone who's selling it for around 2k. Is it a good buy? I'm currently using a 30D.

It's not someone I know well, so I'm a bit apprehensive on buying it. Especially when it's at such a price, it might be too good to be true. Also, I'm not sure if there's significant difference from changing a 30D to a 1DMK11. As for weight issues, i'm ok with it since I'm using a 30D with batt grip most of the time.

The change is like night and day. A series 1 camera is way above the prosumer's range. Even my 5D can't hold its own against a 1DMk.II, that's how good a 1 series camera is. BTW $2k is bloody cheap. I just sold mine for about $3,200.

2k sound too good to be true. The EG charger ard $65 (during offer) and original should be ard $200.

BTW, EF-s lens cant fit into the 1 Series so dont ever try. (Mirror will crack)

There's an old, and very true saying: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't.

However, seller might be 3rd, 4th or 5th owner and doesn't want to lie, so just price lower.

Can always meet up at CSC and ask techies to do an overall inspection, at buyer's cost. Chia seller makan in the meantime. If sellr has nothing to hide, seller wouldn;t mind liao.

Yes it's bloody cheap, I'm in Melbourne. The seller is looking at around AUD1.4-1.5K which roughly translates to SGD2K++

Yup, know about the EF-S lens thing, anyway I don't own an EF-s lens. Hence it's ok

Seller is the 3rd owner. According to seller, he had the camera sent for servicing in Sydney a month ago. Anyway can't really send for checking in CSC Melbourne cos it's grossly inadequate or lacking. Most of the time they send the cams to Sydney center for servicing.

Trust your instinct. If it is value for money , go for it. The right advise is you decide whether you want it.

Hmm...if the seller is willing to provide you with his identification for you to photocopy, and a written receipt stating all the serrial numbers, should be no problem. You might want to check the serial numbers in local forums Lost & Found and police, just in case.

If it's possibly a lost or stolen set that was reported to the police, would it be retained at Customs on your way out, even if you have a receipt?

Other than that, treat the seller to a meal and test it out to the max also firing a few thousand times with different lenses.

That price sounds too good!
I think the 1d (mk I) 2nd hand here is already AUD1.2k-1.4k

Ask to view and deal

I have seen B&H sale at U$1899, it is also in 8. The different is B&H will give you 90 days warranty. I got my from them is MKIIN, at U$2899 but is 10. The have send it to Canon check everything and c/w Canon original box. I used it for 7 month and it is a great gear. Do you know shutter number?

Get the serial number and check.

If its not stolen, chances are:
1) the shutter needs replacing $400+
2) the battery needs replacing $200+

check for rusting mounts.

If these are ok.. or you're able to replace them in addition to buying a new charger, then its worth getting. $2k + 400 + 200 + 200 = $2800.. which is actually about market price.
