Just read an article fr somebody...my 18-200VR sometime face this situation.
is't normal or abnormal?

It's a known problem... some will use O rings to help hold the zoom ring.

yes, very normal...lens creep due to the big element glass at front.

just dun bother if u can.

It's NOT due to the elements, but rather the build. Else the 28-70 is larger

and no such problems...

It's normal but if you are irritated by it, send back to NSC, they will fix it for you FOC. I did, and it does not creep anymore - sometimes i even feel that it is a little bit tight, but that's ok.

NikonUSA acknowledges the zoom creep problem on the 18-200 and says it is normal and cannot be fixed.

It's normal but if you are irritated by it, send back to NSC, they will fix it for you FOC. I did, and it does not creep anymore - sometimes i even feel that it is a little bit tight, but that's ok.
