Default JBP revisit with 10D

Here are some pix from JBP with David's 10D. AF is faster, good for low light focusing and actions. More on my site.

haha no worries. David was just kind enough to let me use his 10D. Yes 10D made my work easier but D60 is still wonderful. If we only count pictures then both cameras are great. I am resting in peace, at least now I have already had some 10D shots liao. Any kind souls out there let me use his/her 1D for one day? (*wink* *wink*, my lord... )

I think the rest of the shots took away the magic of the first...
the first is simply *there*...

Nonetheless, i would just have to agree... for the first shot, rule of 3rd or not, it's a lovely shot.

Nicely done.

Nice series of shots. But to be honest, seems like there is not too much of a difference between the shots fr my ex-c2100uz and those from 10D when view on screen.

he..he..Tom was right, the coloring of the picture doesn't make a lot of difference, but the skill.

That's why he still keep the D60. Here is one of the shoot I take using his D60 with AI Servo. mmh......focusing speed is really a concern for D60, I take total 4 shoot to get only 1 of this...
See....skill.......skill...........long way to go for me...

Possible, my friend. I have seen many stunning comsumer class DC pictures making me feel ashamed. But on the other hand, DSLR give u more flexibility in choosing a lens to fulfill the work, especially when light condition is difficult to manage. Also, if u compare side by side, DSLR pix are still better (I mean purely the picture qualitys).

Actually the first one was taken with my D60 and 50-500 on tripod with cable release at low angle. The rest were taken with 10D.

100% agree on this. Btw is the 50-500mm lens very heavy and isit sharp at all focal lengths?

Heavier than 70-200 but not up to the scale of fast primes. Yes, it's fairly sharp. I am not very fussy about the sharpness and I never did a complete lens test. From what I gathered that: prime lenses may be sharper and more contrasty, but as a hobby, I am very pleased with 50-500, especially for its unbeatable range and affordable price. With an extension tube attached, I can get close-ups with better background which is more difficult for a 300-400 range glass.

Sigma will love to hear this kind of feedback from a pro user in the prosumer market. This is the market they are targetting for.

Everything has a cost, agree? For sheer quality I'd like to own a 600/f4L IS, but for my non-mission-critical pictures 50-500 provides a reasonable budget choice. To me the only thing better on a Canon 100-400L is the IS. Since I always use tripod with 50-500 and often use extension tube, the longer range is very important to me. Enough said. I am not promoting anything for anybody, just user opinion. Many L lenses are just overpriced.

What is an extension tube?

What is the purpose of the extension tube and how does it work on the 50-500? I am curious as I also have a 50-500.
