Default Canon lens jerky?

Hi all have a canon EF 28-80mm 1:3.5-5.6 II lens and when i turn the zoom, it tends to get stuck like it does not want to move and until I apply more force then the thing will turn, and the lens has a tad bit of fungus. How much would it take me to service all this problems? Is there another way other than servicing it? Thks

Will cost between $60-100 to service.
IMO, not really worth it.
Better to look around for a good 2nd hand 28-105.
