Should I buy from the States?

Dear all,

I've been an Oly user since my first digicam 4 years ago through my trusty C-5050Z. Of late I am seriously considering migrating to DSLR. The camera that caught my eye is the new E-510. Unfortunately, it only comes with 1 kit lens in Singapore. I called Olympus Sing yesterday and was told they have not come to a conclusion whether to bring the 2 kit lenses in.

Dilemma???

I'll be travelling to HK next week. Should I get it in HK there or should I buy from US? Or should I wait for COMEX in late August early September for a better deal?

Please advice.

get it where it's cheaper... oly is the only coy that has international warranty for both lens and body...

If you buy from the US you'll get an "EVOLT"! ;-)

But you'll get it cheaper in the US.

Think of it as a discount for that insufferable "EVOLT" stamp on the cam.

Why not just buy the inexpensive Sigma telephoto zoom that's available instead of the Olympus model?

I'd certainly check the warranty for Olympus products bought in the U.S.A. because they were rather strict about honouring warranties of equipment bought outside the U.S.A. They even stuck the Evolt on there to avoid gray market sales--sales from cheaper areas.

prices i.t. trade shows like comex don't drop much, if at all. they'll just give more freebies in the package. think HK should be a good choice.

Get it from the US. Cheaper. Next choice is HK. DON'T get from ANY IT show. It's a rip off. They'll sell you at RRP and throw in freebies that are not worth the price difference you can get outside.

I kana chop till bleed to dead before in US....all my fault never do my homework . I am only arm with the Retail price then saw the price 10-15% cheaper then buy liao.Later found on the net the price is 40% cheaper

Very expensive lesson learnt.
