There is only one Robert Smith in this world... he will be hard to beat... The Cure played longer than 3 hours in the Town House in London years ago... they were so into the party that they went on for 5 hours... and Robert almost lost his voice... that was the best gig ever. The line up was great as well. It was from "Wish" days... Porl Thomson, Simon Balmonte, Boris William, etc... that was the best line up. The saddest thing was Roger O'Donnel was sacked from the band last year, I think... he was the best keyboard player The Cure ever had... but this time, they toured without a keyboardist... and it was sad... because some of the songs in the playlist really needed a keyboard part. The new lead guitarist is only so-so... nothing close to Thomson. He was the best guitarist for The Cure ever.

I was there on Wednesday, still a little deaf from the event!
I thought there was no phography allowed, left my cam behind to enjoy concert thoroughly - what a regret! 90% had digital compacts cameras shooting away. Most shooting with flash ![]() Microcosm u are one lucky dude!! Now I need to steal your pics! 3 SOLID hours 2020 start 2240 off stage (that's 2hrs 20min straight!) 2243 back on stage! First encore (Robert Smith: "we're refreshed now and ready to start the next 3 hr gig!") ~2250 off stage ~2253 Second encore!! ~2320 Thank you Singapore! I was surprised they played Killing An Arab! Din know Porl wasn't in the lineup. Great Fav tunes played: Fascination Street,The Walk (changed lyric of 'Japanese baby' to 'Singapore girl'), Lullaby, Lovesong, Just Like Heaven, Why Can't I Be You, Friday I'm In Love, Close to Me, Hot Hot Hot, In Between Days, 10:15 Saturday Night (tick tick tick), Let's Go To Bed, A Night Like This, Pictures of You, Play for Today, many many more. Tunes missed: Lovecats, Charlotte Sometimes, High, Twilight Garden.

The song that they never played live but did overseas was "Letter to Elise" which I personally love a lot... the Wish album and the Disintegration album and the early days tracks were all awesome.
I also wished that they played Club America and Want... these were very guitar oriented and heavy tracks... very good for stadium gigs... also... also... well... they can play everything over a few days and I will be there... ha ha ha... the tour had 77 songs prepared... alas, time is short... songs are much... sigh... Too bad they are now playing the Australian dates and then heading to the US... wished they would have stayed in Asia for a while more and played more of their tracks... well... |
