File - RAW image quality - L colour - vivid+ Anyone can advise, is this normal for D200... whereas i will get 200++ if i slot it in my D70s |

D200 is 10.2 Mp D70 is 6.1Mp of coz there is a difference in numbers. A 2 Gb card will show about 120 shots on the D200 but in actual practise, you can get up to about 200+ shots. ![]() |

It's simply because the D200's filesize are bigger than the D70's due to the higher megapixel count.
Anyway, the numbers are just estimates. |

This is a funny one... but i believe TS is sincerely panicking... dont worry dude, 100+ in raw is perfectly normal. 1GB card only will take 60 raw. If you think this is crazy, wait till u insert into a S5pro, D2Xs, 5D or 1Ds ![]() |

The amount of shots you can get on the card is just an estimate. Compression algorithms yields varying ratios, thus its hard to estimate the remaining number of shots. Don't take the figures so seriously, its just an estimate. YMMV

If you're shooting RAW, there's an option where you can set if your RAW files are enabled with compression.
Sorry that I don't recall the details, cos for me it's set and forget... ![]() |

Scroll to "RAW Compression". Select "NEF (RAW)" for uncompressed RAW file mode or "Comp. NEF(RAW)" for compressed RAW file mode Press "ENTER" to confirm your selection |

Does compressing RAW degrade the image quality?

On Rob Galbraith's web page, it was mentioned that compressed RAW does not degrade the picture (Or they termed it is visually loseless but numerically lossly) |
