My humble shot taken with 50mm f1.8, no flash.

Buy it! You won't regret it! I bought mine before i come to China for my business trip and used it to shoot around in my hotel room. This is the shot!

This photo has been resized. However, the sharpness and the bokeh is great! Also, the lens is light, so no prob bringing it around.

Oh ya, i am using Nikon D80 as well. Hope this shot help you in your decision making!

yeah but the 50mm 1.8 is tact sharp if you get the focus right within the depth of field

Ic

Just to OT a bit

Is this a right way to mount lenses

d80 body -> 18-135 kit -> uv filter -> polariser

the reason i ask here is because there are alot of helpful sounds in this thread who are using d80

its possible to do it that way, but you may get vignetting, which is a little common with the 18-135mm.

i would rather remove the uv filter and put on the CPL when i need to use it. else you may consider a step-up but.. thats.. up to one's preference

vignetting at widest 18mm or?

how to go about doing a step-up?

d80 body -> kit lens -> polariser = no vignetting?

lesser vignetting, as that lense is prone to vignette naturally on its own, putting one more similar sized filter will definitely worsen it.

to step up, use a step-up ring i.e. from 67mm to 72mm or 77mm and use a bigger CPL, more costly option as a big cpl is.. ex

Sorry to OT, but what's a helpful sound?

The best way to minimise vignetting is to replace the UV with the CPL, as and when you want to use the polariser.

OOps sorry, my typo! I actually meant helpful souls.

Would you guys feel uncomfortable when you unscrew the uv and put in place the polariser?
the few moments without the uv, would you guys be worried that sand might be blown onto the len's surface? or dust might gather there in that few mins of uv-removing and polariser-fitting on.

If travelling, is it ok to have the polariser on for the majority of the day? Only whene vening comes, then remove polariser and put on uv

i dont always shoot with PL, so i have my uv on most of the time.

dont have to worry abt sand on the lense surface.. usually its doesnt occur.. :P

Is bro, is it true that kit lens with any filter will have more vignetting as compared to other lens like the tokina 12-24 or the 50mm f1.8
