Hi! For those interested in looking at a lesser-known sport..
http://jonh.shutterfly.com/action/sl...=1185733759686 Its a great sport to photograph as you can get onto the sidelines without much fuss and there's lots of dynamic action (jumping, diving, running)! |

the flashed images on the last few can be better if you tried to use manual exposure...
the last few images not really good. overall... good control of your composition on the series. good work there. keep it up.

hi. i took e same sport recently too. http://picasaweb.google.com/ac240v/W...eague007Finals
quite a good series u have. but for some, i feel u could crop for a tighter view. cos e action seems a bit far away (small). n may try to include e frisbee in ur shots. yea. dis is not easy. haha. but it does make a better picture.

hey nice lens you got there! what did you use? great layout shot you have there =) holy grail of frisbee photography
hmm yeah i guess i could manually crop the pictures. took wider out because i tend to lose the disc when i zoom in too close or when they jump its out of frame. field was smaller for the tournament so it was very crowded kept getting blocked shots =P what settings did you use? i use aperture apriority to maintain f/8 until it got too dark then switched to shutter priority. tell me if i should do something different coz i'm kinda new =) do you play? i played the last summer league =) Last edited by jonhyz; 3rd August 2007 at 12:22 AM. |

i was using the 20d wif 70-200/2.8 IS for e action and 17-40 for e group shots. i think it is not necessary to use f8. from wat i noe, normally for sports, ppl use bigger aperture/longer focal length to get a nice blurred out background. i used Av too at f4. would prefer using f2.8 but den sometimes it exceeds e 20d's max shutter speed. i was standin along e lines. haha.
u hafta perdict where e frisbee will land and/or whom e catcher will pass it to. not easy. most is jus by luck haha. oh reali? nah. i'm not e sports kinda guy. i was supposed to shoot for e summer league too. but den e guy i liaise wif didnt get back to me after he contacted me. iirc, that guy givin out e prizes was e commissioner of e winter league. was e summer league held in sengkang too? would love to rent a 1d2 n shoot again nx time. haha. had to delete quite alot of shots due to slow AF.

haha pictures look pretty sharp to me.
yeah.. i went up to f/8 to get max sharpness (is that right?) and also to make up for inaccurate AF or just quick moving action. maybe i'll try f/4 as i get more experienced. thanks for you help! =) |
