Here are my thoughts:

1: I like the overall contrast of the picture. Pretty yet natural. The tiny piece of breakwater poking out from the right is a bit distracting though. Shift your angle slightly perhaps?

2. Perhaps the framing could have been wider so the roof will appear to converge closer to the water surface. This would highlight the position of the roof in relation to the water.

#1: What are you trying to show in the picture? There's no subject. Further more there are cropped off tree / rock on the right.

#2: I think is best to leave out the land / sea, it doesn't add to the picture. The top right hand corner also irk me. Maybe you could change another angle to frame the subject.

1st pic... no direct subject in the pic... the rock at the right side is distracting...

2nd pic... the framing above takes too much space...

Hi Raymondb,

These are my thoughts for your pics.

#1 = There is no clear subject on your pics. The trees are cropped off and the breakwater is also a bit of distracting element.

#2 = Leave out the land & sea, it seems to be very distracting. Could possibly adopt a different framing. IMO

#1: There is no proper subject as there are too many distractions. As Transcend has mentioned, the cropping of the breakwater is one of them.

#2: As mentioned in #1, there is no proper subject. From what I gather, you want to make that awning an interesting frame. However, the framing shouldn't take up more than one-third of the picture. The cropping of the sea is also distracting. In this case, it may be wise to crop away the sea totally.

Thanks for all your valued comments and suggestions, appreciated.
For #1, as most of the comments mentioned, there isn't any particular subject for the shot. My intention was to capture the serene mood of that moment. Will be more careful on the composition next time.

For #2, Wanted to create a spacious feeling. Do agree that the canopy was framed much too low in the shot. Should have shot at a lower angle.

Thanks again.
