Smile Walking distance to Sim Lim

    Hi,

I am not from Singapore but I come there almost every month for shopping (electronics/ cameras mainly).

Can anyone suggest any hotel that is WALKING distance from Sim Lim square?

Can be budget or mid range, maybe S$60-$100 per night.

Everytime I come to singapore I always tend to stay at places far away from Sim Lim and spend a lot on cabs (or wait hours to get one).

If you have the phone number for the hotel(s) it will be appreciated or just give me the name and I will find the numbers and call and make a reservation.

    Thanks

There's Perak lodge which is 5 minutes to SLS.

Another one is the New Seven Storey hotel which is about 10-15 minutes walk to SLS.

Perak Lodge - decent looking place located right in Little India, with a couple of backpacker watering holes nearby.
Summer View Hotel - right next to Burlington SQ.

Further down Bencoolen St, there's a Hotel 81. Next to it, there's a hotel which I cant remember the name. And across the street, next to the "Kopitiam", there's another hotel. Then there's always Rendezvous Hotel (facing the Cathay bldg) where you can pig out on yummy nasi padang.

All the abovementioned hotels are within walking distance from SLS!

There is a Hotel81 at Bencoolen. You can walk to Bugis and Sim Lim Square from there.

I would suggest Perak Lodge too. Nice location, right opposite Sim Lim Tower and Square. Nice cosy interior design, interesting location too. You'll get to experience the indian culture if you walk further down, especially in the night.

Check out the link I posted in #2, it's the 3rd entry in the listing and you can see where it is in the map.

I'm sorry if my post is not what you are looking for, but I cant help but ask- Why Sim Lim?
Are the camera prices there really that attractive?

Thanks a bunch everyone, I will make a note of all these nice places for future visits.

As to why I am staying near Sim Lim, I buy mainly computer stuff, and hey, Oriental Photo is in Sim Lim, what more reason do I need

why dont you go straight to SL, then walk around to check in the nearest affordable hotel? there are plenty of hotels around it. go to streetdirectory.com.sg, search for SL map and you will see. esp across the big drain, plenty of budget hotels there.
