Thread: wideangles for 35mm film equivalent: who likes 28mm

Default wideangles for 35mm film equivalent: 28mm

seriously after much retrospect....im leaning more n more in favour towards 28mm for 35mm format film (for digital or other format pls calculate the equivalent angle) as an all-rounder wide angle that is "just nice n fully comfortable".

    cheers all

personally, I prefer 24mm. It's wider, but not unmanageable and doesn't give too much distortion.

    hi mr donald rumsfield ,

yup i use a 28mm almost exclusively with SLRs. i'm still looking to get one for my rangefinders as well. The 28mm field of view is dramatic enough without introducing too much perspective distortion and is way easier to control than either a 20 or 24....

For me the wider the better, so at the moment that is a 20mm.

The reason I like ultra wide angle lenses so much is the distortion you get with them.

Also can't wait till I get another fisheye lense.

My favorite general purpose lens is 35mm. For wide angle I use 24mm.

I never liked 28mm. Long ago I found my first EOS lens (28-105 zoom) limiting because it was never wide enough . Then I got 24mm and it made a big difference.
