Default Looking for a colour printer ...

As above, within the price range of $300-$400.

Features that I look forward to:

1. Individual color-ink catridges
2. Great for text!
3. Availability of OEM ink cartridges as opposed to refills (I hate the latter!)

I only print A4s...

So experts, your tips?

TIA!

Cool

I like my s820; got it at the recent PC show...
i think the 6 colour ink tank make it look much nicer than those with 4 ink tanks.

Hehe.. try the new Canon i850.. the price and ability seems to fit your requirements and frankly i saw the print out between this and its counterpart, the i950.. i cannot see the difference at all.. the i850 is a faster text printer too. oh and the b&w photo prints seems to be better to me too.

Adam;

LavenderLilz has a printer that she is interested in selling. Not too sure if it's something you are looking for but, take a look;

I think the best candidate would be S820! It's the successor of the "award winner" Canon S800. The only difference is the capability of S820 to print borderless A4.

and 6 ink technology. Quality is same as the S900 series imo. Go to Funan and ask for a demo and you will see what a difference 6 ink can do.

Just got my S820 on the 18/4/03 for S$274. Is tis a good price?
Couldn't bear to pay over S$400 for the latest i950...

Is the 2picolite technology really make so much diff to the S820's 4 picoliter tech?

Congrats! I bet you've made a good choice You're quite lucky to get S820 for that price. Ive got mine for 579 when it first arrived in Spore

The diff between photos printed with 2 and 4 picolitre dropsize is hardly noticeable unless you use a magnifying glass. Although, I believe 2 picolitre droplets does improve the smoothness of lighter colours by reducing the number of visible drops.. Other factor also is the resolution of your photo. Ofcourse the diff between 2mp and 6mp printouts is evident.

Good buy!

thats a very good price!

i am using the S820 and from what i can see the 2picolitre is obvious in single colour area or light areas compared to the 4picolitres one
but that is when closely examined, otherwise should be the same

It's this reduction from 4 picoliter to 2 picoliter that responsible for the increase in resolution from 2400x1200 to 4800x1200 rite?

I did ask how come the vertical resolution of 1200 could not increase. Anybody here knw why???

Because the resolution of its stepper motor mechanical gear can not be increased. Vertical resolution depend on the capability of the mechanical parts, while horizontal resolution depend on the print head.
