Default CV Nokton 40f1.4 on an RD1s

Is it difficult to use on an RD1, especially when the cam is designed for 28mm, 35mm and 50mm?

How can i better frame knowing the 40mm is in between 35 and 50mm.

i'm using one on my m6 and it shows up the 50mm framelines. some @ RFF says that u can file the mount of the lens to get the 35mm framelines to show up instead.

anyway i jus frame my subject tight within the 50mm framelines. roughly gauge the amount of excess around the frame from there. hope it helps

Takes a little bit of agaration...

With R-D1s, you get crop factor anyway, hence, just estimate and give a little margin when you frame with the 50mm frameline. Anyway, you can crop away the unwanted portion using PS.

The 40mm/f1.4 is a great lens for walkabout and street with available light.

just use the built in 35mm frame lines and don't frame too near to the edge of the framelines.

I have one and only one lens (CV21mm) for the R-D1s and been doing guessing work since day one. I don't find it a problem....after a few hundred shots, you'll get the hang of it and can actually frame quite accurate without the lines...

well the 21mm f4 is still faster than my 15 f4.5. My guessing work should be more then, even with the view finder. I cannot get vertical shots right at all. For some of the vertical shots, i wanted to frame people but they ended up at the corner of the frame with one leg cut off by the frame.

Wait till you try the 75mm or 90mm

I've ever tried a Russian 135mm for portrait. The agaration is not only for framing... but for focusing as well.
