Default CPL??

I just bought a circular polariser but need some advise from CS.
I remember someone taught me to look through the CPL over at a pond or something like that and turn the polariser and I would see the reflection being eliminated. But if now I can't find any pond is there any way for me to tune my CPL to the correct position?

Thanks

erm there is no definite correct position for CPL filters, what he probably means is that if you're shooting at a pond you can turn your CPL filter to eliminate the reflections

Just adjust the CPL to the effect you want.

If you just put the cpl in front of any LCD screen, the effects of polarisation should be very clear.

But considering that it has been raining these few days, you can probably use the puddles you find outside. Stand some distance away from the puddle (few metres will do), and look at the puddle through the cpl, and rotate the cpl. You should see the reflections on the puddle appear and disappear.

Just do rotate in front of your LCD screen to see the effect in place..
