Default Advise on Macro on 350D

Hi all senior

I'm using 350D and i had difficulty in viewing through the view finder to focus in manual. My setup is Tamron AF90 with 25mm extension tube and 2X TC thus only manual. Anything wrong with my setup that make only manual? Anything i can do to help to focus better?

Thanks

Hi i have a 350D and I used to shoot macros with extension tube, always in manual. I have no problems focusing. Can you elaborate a little more on your problem?

Here's a guess without knowing what your problem is...there is a small knob to the right side of your view finder as show below. Have you adjusted that?

using the 2x TC will greatly degrades yr photo quality. I'm using a 350D + Tamron90 + Kenko25mm tube for my macros. no problem in AF and manual focus.

Try without the TC and see if its better.

I had that adjusted and is ok to my sight. Except that the viewfinder might be a little small and thus a bit strain in the eye causing to blur my sight and difficult to focus. Is my way to focus wrong? Do the anglefinder help? And thanks for your response.

Thanks for the advise. Will try this setup.

Assuming you have adjusted, you should have no difficulty focusing. Naturally the viewfinder of the 350D is smaller, compared to say a 30D or 1 series, so it is not so bright and clear.

It is normal when shooting macro on a very close object for the object to be out of focus most of the time. When I shoot insects for example, most of the time the object is blur, but I adjust my camera(handholding) forwards and backwards until I get it in focus. Once the object is sharply in focus, I press the trigger. Since you have a extension tube AND 2x TC you can expect the object most of the time to be blur or out of focus.

Try focusing without the extension tube and TC, is it easier to focus? If not, maybe borrow another 350D and try the same. Narrow down whether it is due to an equipment issue or just a focusing one. Just my 2 cents. Hope this helps!

Thanks for your advise. Let me try with your method. Might be due to my skill and exposure. Need more practise. Cheers.
