The master of camoflauge
![]() Over-exposed, out of focus but I like the pose anyway ![]() My first decent face shot - damn the backscatter but a cheeky damselfish none the less. ![]() Last edited by Zippsy; 24th July 2007 at 09:49 AM. |

Ya, there are a few of them around but damn hard to find even when you know which rock they are sitting on top of. If they ever move, we are s.o.l. |

Where in West Malaysia did you find the Frog Fish?

I guess the proper name of where they are is Batu Ikan Katak. Sorry, my spelling is atrocious. That, of course, is just a small underwater rock near Pulau Aur where some previously jailed frog fish were released back in the end of May. The cool thing about searching for them again is that divers are also finding other camouflaged critters like leaf scorpion fishes.

BTW, here is the Leaf Scorpion Fish found when searching for the frog fish. I didn't see it but it just goes to show you when you search some rocks enough, you are bound to find some nice surprises. The photo was taken by a guest the week before I was there - nice shot.

I hope they can too. Except for a batch of male Mandarin fish that may now be gay, I believe the other critters were released with mates. I don't think anyone has a picture of any of them eating or mating yet but that would make a good photo.

Not a pair, rumor has it that the "expert" grabbed more than a dozen from the aquarium, certain that there would be at least some of each sex. Unfortunately....
![]() I think they went back with females the following week but by that time, the males were probably not interested. ![]() Last edited by Zippsy; 30th July 2007 at 11:46 PM. |
