Default Storms shall prevail

Clouds that were not of the most merciful sight were seen coming in, the red lions themselves had to retreat with the expected rain coming in soon. But no matter how wet these soldiers would get, they won't give up. They will not exchange the dampness for their spirit in lifting the nation's honour. They will not fall, they will stand tall. Life does have to go on even at the darkest hour, and they made the very best out of it.

Pic #1 The lineup

Pic #2 The State Colours

Pic #3 The Inspection

Pic #4
We shall not fall

Pic #5 The Dance and Swirls of fire

It was near... The rain was like inches away only. Somehow the great wind blew the stormy clouds away.

why do you wanna shoot the parade from a low angle upwards? just to show ppls the sky? why don't you just concentrate on the parade itself? it's sucha big event and you could most importantly try to capture emotions and tell a story.

fireworks wise? would prefer something of a foreground like the ground or better framing. i couldn't get a pass from my unit

Hmmm, thannk you for the input, however I would wish to be enlightened on how much better could i better capture the parade. And the emotions would be tough as i'm on the platform from the start of the parade till the show starts. Would like to know how to capture the emotions within the parade. I'm really blind in that area >.<

Since you are privileged enough to be on the platform, you can try to take some closeups of people to try to capture some of the emotional spirit, especially on the actual day, ie. zoom in to get some headshots.

Ya would do so, thanks for that point. Would try to bring out the grit of those in the parade.

I think the shooting upwards works for me. Maybe because i am involved too and i can understand the tension between the clouds and the participants. hahaha...good that u took a different look on the NDP especially in #4. instead of the usual "focus-on-faces", there is a show of the interaction between people and weather.

Thank you for that kind comment, however so i do find the pic is slanted >.< have no idea on how could i better rotate it. I'm a noob in PS-ing pics to have a nice level. Moreover i'm shooting without aim for that. ' Cannot lie down on parade square '. As for the tension between the clouds and participants i'm glad it worked for you . I had the pic titled as closed to my emotions at that point of time. If i were the participants i would not even fall out when the rain comes down hard on me. Its not worth all the training and sweat.

i dont think u can rotate #4 anymore. the top of the flags will get cut off. so i am commenting based on composing. cant comment on PS or gear-wise. i maybe going in next week to take photos...my primary job is to give out lunch and dinner.

As discussed before, these photos that are posted online, are those that do not contain big classifications. Therefore, posting online would not be a problem.

i actually like some of your shots, namely 2, 4, 7. I think they'd look much better printed out in A2 or A1 size. 600x400 just doesn't have the same effect. I shot NDP as a unit photographer over 4yrs ago as well as a exco photographer and i know its not easy especially when u keep repeating it. As i recall, by the NE Show, i was sick of it and really straining to get something different. good luck!
