got message from someone but got this error message when replying
..... "has chosen not to receive private messages or may not be allowed to receive private messages. Therefore you may not send your message to him/her" if one chose it and know it, it is ok. but what if that person does not know it and is waiting for a reply, can that happened? becos of the 2nd line "may not be allowed to receive private messages". i wonder why someone may be allowed to send private messages but not received them. isn't it oxymoron? |

could one have disabled receipt of private messages apart from moderators and those on the buddy list, but be allowed to send private messages to those outside the buddy list, waiting for a reply and forgotten of this disabling? becos this disabling does not only disable receiving of uninvited pm but also disabling of replies.
i'm concerned becos it is not the first instance of such incident of people asking a question in pm but could not be replied to. it may be that the user slip his or her mind on such settings, but to make things easier for everyone (except the programmer), can i suggest the following? when someone is attempting to send a message to someone outside of the buddy list, 1. can he/she be reminded by a popup window or as part of the message option, to add the recipient of the message to be on the buddy list, so that the recipient can reply to him/her. or 2. when there is a reply from a member on the non-buddy list to a that user , can the user be notified of such reply to see if he/she wants to authorize it? Its a fairly simple option. I have already explained what the system offers to CS members. If the member choose to ignore all PM outside his buddy list, its the user decision. Replies are part of PM. therefore if thats what the user decision, thats how it work for him/her. By default, its not turn on unless the user specifically checks it. For whatever you have requested, this is out of scope for us. |
