I read reviews, Tokina 28-80 f2.8 is not designed for DLSR, it causes flare.
    Solidly built, but heavy.

I thought the sort after Tokina is the 28-70 F2.6-F2.8 version.

my concern with Tammy is the consistency of quality of lens, some are good some are not so good. this is what i read from reviews and feedback.

anyway, where is a place to get this, those with "good" stocks?

    I am using a Sigma 28-70mm F2.8 EX DG.

I am very happy with the Sigma lens, the image is very sharp, and focusing is fast. I was told that the "EX" is the top of the range product from Sigma, and DG was special design for digital camera.

I do not have a chance to use Tamron & Tokina lens, but I have Canon, Sigma & Corsina lens. For example Canon lens produce darker and warmer picture that Sigma. Sigma color is lighter and happier tone. Corsina produce very dark tone of picture. Color is very personal.

All are reasonably good if you do get sharp copies...

But nothing comes close to AFS 28-70 f2.8, try it for a shoot you will know why..

I would choose none of the above. If you are serious about photography IMO, save up to get 1st party f/2.8 lenses.

I know that it's not those mentioned above, but once you have tried the 1st party lenses, you'll know what you are missing.

Granted you got the cash to use, then go for the one your camera brand makes.

But if not, I do find the Tamron a pretty good choice for a low budget user.

    I have a Vivitar Series 1 28-70mm f2.8 and a Sigma 28-70mm f2.8. Both are very good lenses and I like them.
