Default 1st attempt at butterfly shot

Hi. This is my first "successful" attempt at butterfly shots taken at the Sentosa Butterfly Park.

Have a lot to learn from you masters out there. Any C&C would be appreciated.

This poor guy's wing is badly injured. Don't know if it can fly properly.

Cool shots! What lens did you use?

Thanks.

Lens used is Sigma 150mm f2.8 macro lens. Must use tripod to focus properly as my hands are shaky.

Thumbs up Re: 1st attempt at butterfly shot

I like the last picture best, even thought the butterfly's not perfect. Good composition for all the photos, but I find the focus is a little off.....or is it just my eyes?

Picture 4 would have been perfect for me if not for that green twig running in front.

Personally, I would have in sharp focus the body/head of the butterfly leaving the rest of the parts to blur.....again, this is just my personal opinion. At some angles, a sharp focus on the patterns of the wings (in the same plan) will be desirable.

Great job, btw!

Thanks for your comments.

I agree about the twig but unfortunately, that was the only workable angle. I tried pulling some leaves aside (as careful as possible) for shots of another butterfly but ended up scaring it away
