Flash not allowed ... but I see people shooting away with it =x
It is something like a ceremony with chanting and the chief monk giving blessings and pronouncing the couple as man and wife... Didn't snap a lot ... sorry =x

Tune up your exposure using any software like photoshop. I think it is way too dark when you develop it. Usually what you see in monitor is usually alittle under when develop.

I don't think you need to be a vegetarian to have your wedding in the temple. However if you have a lunch reception there, then confirmed will be vegetarian.
I did a few backup Buddhist AD wedding photography for my friends before and I don't think it is a NO-NO to have the religious images in the framing. in fact it may add in some serenity and holiness in the composition which most of the wedding couples who hosts their wedding in a religious premises want. I use flash for those projects i took and should not be any problems. nevertheless you can politely ask for any restriction b4hand. Do share more of your shots. jia you!

I believe vegetarians and the temple has nothing to do with each other.

![]() I agree with you about the composition ... Point noted! I guess flash is a must.

Actually, this temple allows photography on the gods. The management told me to go ahead to shoot when I was invited for a private tour. But i guess it would be out of courtesy to double check with the monk in charge. As for use of flash, it can be subjective and a personal choice even if the temple allows it. I won't use it at all as I have high ISO and a fast lens to improvise. However, not all temples allow indoor photography especially the ones pointing the camera at the statues. More importantly, it is the intent of shooting that matters more. A good shot is worthless if one uses it as a form of mockery. But a picture depicting the mood and the event would bring back good memories. Hope the couple enjoys your pictures. |

Sharpness aside, I think Pic #1 is nice. I like the colours, finds it very soothing.

Did you get permission from the wedding couple to take and publish photos of their ceremony here?

Not very much. You just need to see the JP (Shi Fa Zhao) to have him agree to carry out the solemnization ceremony for you. Generally, the token fee is SGD25, but I believe most people give more, and also a little something for the other monks as well. Seating also costs a bit (under $8 per seat) and the vegetarian buffet reception after that is also optional (no more than SGD15 per head, I think). All in all, it's a lot cheaper than doing it at some country club, but the spirit of the event is to be married and blessed by Buddha.
