Hi, I am new to IR photography and recently bought a Hoya R72 filter. After a few shots I found a problem with my photos. There is a "bright spot" at the middle of the photo, as shown in below
![]() Info: D80, Nikkor 50mm 1.8D, R72, M Mode, f4, shot at 5.45pm I had read the forum suggestions to use bigger aperture to prevent getting "diffraction" on my photo but still I got it Any suggestion to me? Thanks ![]() Matthew. Last edited by mteow; 10th July 2007 at 08:30 PM. |

Its actually quite successful on the D80. Did you cover the view finder?
Actually, the Nikkor 50mm f1.8 is not a good lens for IR. There could be a tendency to give odd colors at the edges and possibly a hot spots. Do try with another lens (eg. kit lens) |

Oh dear, if at F/4 your hot spot isn't solving, switch to another lens which is IR friendly.
F/4 is pretty open already.. =) |

Thank you
I will try again to see will the problem be improved with f2.8 and ISO400. Too sad to know that 50mm is not a suitable lens for IR Anyway will test on other lens to find out better shots. TQ. |
