Thread: Stormy day at SBG

  1. #1

    Default Stormy day at SBG

It was going to rain, but I photographed these before it poured!

#1 The sun through layers of leaves

#2 Reaching for the skies - Two SB800s fired remotely

#3 Misty blue leaves - My lens was fogged up after walking through the Cool House, so I took this abstract.

    #4 Patterned leaves

    Comments much appreciated!

    #2 Reaching for the skies

Thanks for all the comments everyone! In case you guys were wondering about the setup, I have a setup photo below. The setup was 2 SB800s at +1EV. The guy in the photo's my shooting buddy, not me, but I was in that position for that photo too.

To answer's garyyyt's question, I used a D80 with kit lens, but the D70S and D70 can do the same too - they can all fire remote SB800s without additional equipment.

The benefit of using remote flash is that you can capture the mood perfectly and still get the foreground in nice, crisp light. I didn't burn/dodge anything, and the sky was really that blackish.

Wow, I rarely find people who bother to bring out two flashes for casual shooting! Kudos for the hard work. I enjoyed looking at the set of shots so congratulations for the work paying off!

I especially like #1 for the mood. Thank you for sharing.

#2 looks like an IR shot, nice. #3 is nice too, looks like some graphics created in Flash.
