You can get PX625A at Basement 1 Sim Lim Tower, Sin Chew battery Company so something like this. This shop is on the left of the escalator as you come down. Ruby Photo also have this at Peninsula Plaza. This is alkaline version of the PX625 1.5V instead of 1.35V. You may have to test your camera to know how much to offset the meter setting.

I hope you can find it. I've found 625 series batteries (e.g. at Ruby Photo), but the ones I've seen are 1.5V and not the old 1.35V that my old devices used. Anyone else seen 1.35V versions?

Older type of PX625 is Mercury Batt and 1.35V but newer one is no longer Mercury and it's 1.5V. Some say it's still usable but other say it's not accurate due to Voltage different. You can try a shop selling only batteries on 2nd floor at Sim Lim Square.

thanks for the suggestions, will be sure to check those places out.

ive tried the 1.5v and alkaline versions (even alkaline versions of 1.35v). there are a few issues:

re 1.5v and alkaline - the diff voltage by itselt means meter will have to be recalibrated (or you'll have to remember what the offset is). but being alkaline, the voltage draw is so erratic and i think goes down through the lifespan of the battery. i find that the reading is not very dependable.

if i cant find any of the old mercury 1.35v, i may just recalibrate them to 1.5v silver oxides, which have a more stable draw (apparently - not tried them).

Not all old cameras using 1.35V can take the 1.5V. Rolleiflex SL 35 is a good example, where the meter will not work correctly at all at higher voltage.

Zinc-air batteries at 1.4V maybe a better bet, for hearing aids, and is available even at NTUC.

If not try Fotographfix at China Town Point. Call 62237217 to enquire. The owner Mr Wong opens daily after 2pm, but call before u go down.

You definitely cannot find mercury batteries anymore as production of the batteries stopped many years ago. If you can find one now NIB there will probably be very little capacity left or flat. Another way is to buy a voltage regulator adaptor for the 625 which uses a SR44 silver oxide battery. It regulates to 1.35V. I use it in my Rollei 35S which cannot work with alkalines. Yes another way is Zinc-Air cells but have'nt seen any 625 size in SG. Hearing aid ones have very little capacity as they are small and very easy to short circuit. You can get one of these adaptors from http://www.criscam.comThis is the best solution if you have a camera that cannot be used with an alkaline.

It seems that mercury cells are virtually non existent in Singapore. Does anyone knows where to get the Wein cells in Singapore? I cant seem to find them either.
Or some one got spare to sell me? Or if anyone wants to buy, perhaps we can do a mini MO.

You mean Singapore is prohibiting battery delivery to Singapore?
