Default Help!!! My Epson Stylus Color 480 has stopped printing for unknown reasons

Dear all,

I've read a couple of threads posted in here on means and ways of self-troubleshooting printer related issues. I found them quite comprehensive and felt you guys might be able to help me out with this with your valuable advises....Here's an account of my printer problem:

Problem Description:

-My printer accepts print jobs e.g a test print page or a document from notepad or word

-Printing sequence takes place almost immediately

-Paper gets fed, BUT NOTHING GETS PRINTED ON IT.....In the process, I could see that the printheads were not moving across the paper to effect the print at all (no printhead movements)

-The blank paper comes out, and then the next paper gets loaded in and the same thing happans again. This cycle keeps on going until I cancel the print job itself (i.e the print job status still reveal the "Test print page" not printed despite after having a number of papers loaded in..

-Inks are fine. Have checked them through the ink checking status.

-Below are the steps which I have done but to no apparant success..

Steps which I have done:

-Followed one of the thread's advise on removing any possible clogs in my printheads through the usage of Windex. The result was negative. Problem still existed.

-Uninstalling the printer and it's corresponding drivers from my system and then re-installing (latest drivers)them all together again. The result was negative. Problem still existed.

I believe the communication path between my printer and comp are fine since it accepts the print job and thereafter printing sequences actually took place too. It's only the continuous feeding of paper with nothing printed on them that makes this problem puzzling.

I'm wondering what could be the possible causes still. Driver issue? Printer malfunction? Clogging issue? I'm kinda clueless now as to how I should proceed on troubleshooting this. I sincerely hope I'm able to get valuable inputs from experts in here. Appreciate all of your time, effort and help on this.

Thanks in advance too.

Regards
Shawn

I found this link to a service manual. I'm not sure how reliable it is, though.

Maybe this will sound stupid since I don't know that certain model but does the printhead assembly move at all, such as when you open the cover? My first thought is that there is a flexible (synthetic rubber?) band controlling printhead movement and that it's snapped or stretched.

This is probably no help, but good luck with it.
