OK here's a couple taken yesterday. Got that cheap, $22 (including postage) China made IR filter that I got from eekBay, so I decided to try it out. Tried using it with a FA50mm f/2.8 Macro and a Sigma 28mm f/2.8. Verdict, the FA50 Macro flunked the hotspot test (can only shoot up to f/6.7 or so) while the Sigma passed.

    Pentax FA50mm Macro

    Sigma 28mm

Sorry to side track, i have kit lens and 50-200mm lens.
Interested in IR photography, so for filters is it enough to get a 52mm UV, a 52mm CPL n a 52mm IR filter?
    Thanks...

kit lens of pentax is good for ir photography

    BUT

why are you talking about uv and cpl in ir?

please do not stack anything on top of the ir filter, you will get very weird colours

if you need more help pm me

Finally, more successful IR pictures. (Pre-process)
Will try and process and post post-processed versions later.

    Hmmm.... Okay...
Was already over-exposing by about 4.5 stops...
I will see when I got chance, try again with more exposure...
I guess I need to let more light in since I'm shooting with a zoom.
    (Was shotting between 100-200mm)

    It was actually very sunny.
But as you can see in the pics, the clouds were out full force too.
So it's very bright when/where there're holes in the clouds and overcast otherwise.

Yalor... Tempted to hunt for a 2nd hand K100D now...
But there's none to be had for now...
Not much of a budget left too, after preparing for Japan trip...

BTW, when I do the manual WB setting with plant under bright sun, is it normal for the result to be of a green tinge instead of pink/orange?

hrm, what sort of filter are you using? cokin p007? doesn't look like hoya to me

and what are those funny orbs floatign about the image?!

based on shadows, your building is in the sun. so either the foliage is not real foliage, or the building seems to reflect ir very well. hence it appears BRIGHTER than the foliage. don't worry too much about it. in any case, your picture is really too yellow.

in any case, i tried playing with your picture. did you shoot in raw? ALWAYS shoot in raw for ir, especially when using k10d. then you can correct the WB point easily, since most ir pictures would have sky or foliage in it. without any of these 2 factors, it is almost always pointless to shoot.
