Default Canon 400D with EF-S- 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM for IR

Hi Guys,

Anyone used the EF-S- 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM for IR? Is it a bad lens or good for IR? Im planning to buy an R72 filter and would like to know if this lens is good for IR photography. R72 on a 77mm diameter lens is a bit expensive (its 240SGD at Cathay). So before i buy, i would to know who tested this lens or IR.

Thanks,
Ally

Hi,

Already bought the R72mm (220SGD at APS) and tested with Canon EF-S 17-55mm IS . See results. I would say the Canon EF-S 17-55mm IS is a good lens for IR (no hot spots). Thanks for teerex, Max 2.8, PandaOng and photoexpress for replying my PM.

Hi Minotaur,

Shutter speed is 5 seconds on manual mode with F5.6 aperture and ISO200. CWB on green grass with ISO 800, F4 and 2s shutter speed.

Cheers,
Ally
