Hello there all in Nikon land,
I was given a 5700 for free as it was faulty and the owner did not want to get it fixed. Looking at it my guess is that the CCD is faulty. In your opinion, do you think it is worth getting repaired The camera has been well looked after, (not a scratch and the lens is very clean). It has been a long time since I have held and used one, but I remember it was a very good camera in it's day. So, in your opinion, would you have it repaired and how much would you pay to have it working. Thanks for any replies. P.S. I guess this question is ok for the Nikon forum as it is reguarding a Nikon camera, if not please move it to where you think it should be Thanks.

Pablo,
What exactly is wrong with the camera. The Coolpix 5700 has a known issue and Nikon has released an advisory on this. You can read it here: Advisory from Nikon Singapore Advisory from Nikon Australia Advisory from Nikon USA If the issue you're facing matches the one described, you could probably get the camera repaired for free, even AFTER its warranty period has expired. This was announced around the world and the repair was done for free (I had mine repaired last year) but I'm not sure about the policy down under. Good luck. _ Last edited by deadpixel; 19th June 2007 at 07:10 PM. |

Hey, thank you for pointing that out There may be a possability that it will fit the situation. I will have a word with the Nikon rep tomorrow on the phone and see where I might stand with it. I am most gratefull to you for your reply on this. Maybe they will just fix it, maybe not. But this is a chance I would have missed if you did not let me know. Many thanks ![]()
