Tested and felt it's sharp enough for the range and price. VR do works very well when I tried at 200mm f5.6 at 1/50s.

Hi,
I bought my D80 kit recently, which came with the 18~135mm lens, after use for a week quicky went back to the shop to exchange/topup for the 18~200mmVR, because i found out my hand could'nt hold steady at 1/60 speed which caused most of the pics blurred, so need to increase ISO numbers to prevents blurs. It is however my own problems and not the lens or camera. But the truth is, the new VR lens made my pics looks really good, as i'm not even a ameture yet, just a newbie in this hobby learning from all the experts here. I'm happy for the results/performance but not the price, and another things is, the VR lens suffers from lens creeping as mentioned in another thread, mine too from day one. Regards |

It will save the trouble and time of changing lenses esp during wedding ceremony and dinner thus eliminating chances of missed shots.

Many shots taken by 18-200VR, D80. If no USM or PP applied, I will mention it. http://picasaweb.google.com/Pinholebox |

err pardon me for asking, when u say "for my wedding shoot", u mean u shooting ur own wedding or others? :P
anyway, just my 2 cents on this lens. this is the best lens for travel.. but for indoor shoots, somewhat lacking. one thing is the aperture at 3.5 and also the perforance at 200mm and also the ca as well. but all this apart, the one thing that is very lacking for me is the bokeh. well opinions may differ but try it and find out urself. |

The 18-200vr is a great lens, tried my friend's copy and it's sharp with fast focusing.
VR works great, I would reckon that it's good for your wedding shots. Although it's a not a fast lens with f/3.5 - 5.6, it's VR allows you to handheld for a clear and sharp shot even at 1/30 @ 200mm to compensate the low indoor lighting without uping your iso too much. It's a great all-rounder lens for travel as well. One lense fits all. I'm not from Nikon but just that I've tried it and I find it really worth it for the $$$. Only downsides are it's plasticky feel and lens creep problem. |

only thing I can say is I am also a happy owner of this lens. If you are a guy who adores low light shooting and bokeh then you may want to consider getting other lenses as this is not what this lens was built for.

Used to own the 55-200mm VR lens and now the 18-200mm VR. My personal feel is that the lens are quite well built, the shafts are made of metal and best of all is the VR. Tried shots down to 1/10s shutter speed which still turns out quite decent. The VR on the 18-200 is superior compared to the 55-200mm IMHO. No problem so far with image quality, however like some of the bros mentioned, if you like low-light and good bokeh, this lens does not do that well.

If the wedding shots are going to be blown up and printed, then good luck to you if you got a soft copy of the lens.

Sold 18-200VR for the AF-S VR Micro 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED.
Actually the 18-200 is quite a good lens as compare to the AF-S VR Micro 105mm. ![]() Stright from S5 PRo without PP, just resize.
