Hi xiaochew,

From the replies so far "0" I would guess that not too many have this camera

I have used it briefly and think that it is OK.

I say ,"OK", not brilliant.

Apart from the fact that it will work to a depth of 10mts rather than my mju720 of 3mtr, the image quality is the same....OK

It does show depth and pressure on the screen which I think is cute, but, it is average as far as picture quality.

If you want to take photo's under water and think that you might want to drop it sometime, then buy it.

But, if you want to take photo's that stand out using a p&s camera, look further.

I don't know if this is of help in your descision.... just my view.

Cheers

Any idea where in Spore can we find the sillicon cases for the 770SW?

Just bought 2 units of them for work use as we require "ruggeredised" cameras.

I had the Olympus SW770. The image quality is fair only, rather noisy. So only good as alternative camera on hostile environment or when you don't demand too much on the quality. Major downside, too many buttons to press as the camera is build with theme modes. The good points are macro photolight (where flash is too close to reach), sturdy and you can wash it. A tempting camera for curious people.

I bought this abt 2 mths ago from CP at abt 615 with 1 additional 1gb card and battery.

This camera is good for underwater, mainly for snorkelling and in pools. For Diving, u can get the casing but i doubt it will be good when compare to those underwater SLR or DSLR with casing.

Built quality is excellent, it suppose to be shockproof and it seems that way. Size wise, since it's one of the only 2 camera i knew that do not need casing for up to 10m, it's considered very small and handy. it may not be as small and slim as the Ixus but not much bigger i'd say.

Photo-quality. Well, it's a compact digital camera so my expectation is not high. Quality is good as long as lighting is good i feel. Underwater shots turns out well (i have a thread with a pic of an eel in the U/W forum). Landscape and normal portraits also no problem. Low light hand held will be problem, which is the case for all compact digital anyway.

i think the noise is probably due to u using Auto mode? when lighting is low, the higher ISO will be used. Anything from ISO 800 onwards will be fairly noisy.

After using this camera for a few weeks, I agree that the noise level is high in low light conditions. IN good lighting conditions, the photos are ok. OK, not great as compared to the Canons and Nikons.

Also, get a XD card reader as transferring photos using the supplied cable is very very slow.

Hi,

I have red reviews of this camera. Not very good lor. You can try Cnetasia or dpreview. Think I read that not too long ago.

For those interested. I think it will be available in mid August or probably inline with the coming exhibition.

But one thing for sure, until now; movie clips by Olympus still cannot make it compared to what I used to own a 5050 till now mju720...sigh..hope they do something about it.
