Nope, that should be a broadclub cuttlefish if i'm not wrong. Adult flamboyants aren't that big anyway. I believe you have a couple of shots of the flamboyant.

i went to dauin at the southern island of NEGROS. Dive with Sea explorer. Marine there was rich, the giant groupa about the size of 1.2- 1.5m long and snapper at least 1m long.

I guess this is the flamboyant rite. saw it there too while waiting for the mandarinfish for 20mins(5.30pm) yet this creature turn up instead. sigh...

why sigh? flamboyant sighting is not a usual occurance and a very much sought after macro subject. I've only seen it once in lembeh. Mandarinfish are more common and not that hard to spot once you know where to look. I would much rather take pics of the flamboyant.

Yups go to lighthouse at malapascua, big sized mandarin fish all over the place and they mate like nobody's business. All other places with mandarin fish seem puny in comparison. (eg. kapalai, manado, lembeh)

Wow! So many Emperor Shrimps on one rock!

Once again...macro in Phillippines is great....despite the lack of reef fish in some sites. (cuz of dynamite fishing?)

And yes, I'm also wondering why the sigh, cuz I've gone looking for flamboyant cuttlefish and haven't met one yet.

But Lighthouse at Malapascua is full of Mandarin fish...enough for a few groups of divers to watch mating rituals, and males fighting over the females etc.

For those who want to try Dumaguete.
This is how rich the marine is. Look at how many shrimp in 1 anemone.

The groupa is as friendly as australia Potato cod, about 1-2m long, you see there very often in Apo island. And also best Drift diving i ever dived.
