Default film and flatbed scanners issue!

Canon - Canoscan 8600F - approx. S$300

Epson - V700 - approx. S$700

Thinking of getting one of these!
price difference is kind of huge!
but i need to scan 120 formats and 35mm negatives!
i saw some reviews saying that Canoscan 8600F has some software or hardware problems!
did anyone experienced that?

hence i need help!
please give comments on these scanners too!

from what i remember, 8600 is simply "value for money".
what you spend is what you get... of course the epson will definitely be better in terms of the results, but the 8600 from reviews is full functional for your 35 and 120 scanning.

i will be getting a 8600 soon too. epson is out of range for me.

i havent encountered any software / hardware problems..for the past 6 months ive been using it.

8600f is definitely value for money to me.

if price is an issue, the choice is obvious. dont even need to consider epson.

for webposting...i think the scans are all fine. all my negative scans posted here are scanned with the 8600f.

I got the 8600F recently, well worth it. Installed with Windows XP with no problems. It came with some instructions for Vista too. Scanning at above 1600 dpi takes some patience, can just go away to do something else. Can be bought for $290, though I read somewhere it can be had for $280.

Do a search in the CS forums and check with the poster. I got mine from Sim Lim Square. PM me if shop name needed.

i once tried to do diy processing.
control temperature via water bath, add hot water or add cold water etc.
frankly i dunnoe stated temperature refer to water bath temp or film inside the plastic
drum. i figure the temp of the film in the drum should b different from the water bath
as plastic is a poor conductor.
damn jialat. i m jus not good with my hands lah.
