every now and than, this list will pop out again and again and again.....

can you just image that if you couple :-

#1, ask you the same question during the meet up/ email enquiry

#2, give you this list and ask you to shoot accordingly.

If couple pay accordingly, I don't mind, but can't help to notice most of them come with this list are the most low end customer, want to make sure every single cents is well spend.

For #1, just prepare a FAQ booklet and give it to them

    * Are photos clear, crisp and of good quality?

    - how clear is clear? how crisp is crisp? how good is good? i think it's easier to just ask for the portfolio.

    * Does the photographer have the capability of retouching or special effects?

    - i think the photographer can counter question whether the couple thinks retouching work is a given or added service. retouching takes time, that needs to be compensated.

    * Are proofs included in the final fee, or is there an extra charge?

    * What does the quoted price include?

    * Will the photographer with the photos that you choose create a personal album for you?

    * Discuss photo package costs. Obtain itemized contract.

    - these 4 can be essentially summarised into the last of the 4 questions, the other 3 quite extra

    * How long are negatives kept by the photographer?

    - applies to film photography only, for digital should be asking where're the limits of the clients' rights to the pictures and the photographer's rights to the pictures

    * Do you feel comfortable with the photographer?

    - more like the couple ask themselves, not ask the photographer, right?

    * Discuss at what time the photographer is to arrive and exactly where and when he should be present at certain areas.

    - meaning giving the photographer a general list of important procedures

    * Does the person that is presenting them to you take the photos that you are looking at?

    - the question should be what's the arrangement available if the appointed photographer cannot turn up due to unforseen circumstances and whether the couple can accept the alternative arrangement

    * Be clear on what attire you expect your photographer to be wearing and note it in your contract.

    - hmmm ... unless the photographer is suspected to have the habit to dress inappropriately, or the clients have special request that the photographer comes in specific attire ... the part about noting in the contract sounds serious, kind of demonstrates a distrust for the photographer even on common sensical things

i think the second part of the list, although partially helpful, if followed to the word, is rather excessive ... occasionally laughable even. i think photographers need to be given the creative space to work on top of the minimum requirement. newbies should also not mistakenly take this list as the holy manual for must have shots in wedding photography (and should not be encouraged to be seen that way) ... that's the problem, wedding photography needs more accumulated experience than textbook knowledge, i think it's better for newbies to understudy working professionals to gain experience than pick up bits and pieces off the internet

Like I said, it was lifted from a book hehe. In foreign countires, the wearing garter shot is actaulyl quite standard, just like our lift veil, throw fan sort of thing.

good question leh, i not very sure also, but according to my ah ma hor, teochew exchange the candles. before the wedding day the groom side will send a pair of dragon candles to the bride side, the bride side will send a pair of phoenix candles to the groom side. the candles are positioned as per the direction of the dragons or phoenixes lor ... think other dialect groups different
