ANyone having problems with noise control on the d200? Shot on 2 occasions at iso 500.
But most of my photos came out noisy. I can understand if the noise if more prominent in the darker areas, but its also prominent in the normal bright areas. Noise reduction is set to high in cam. Is there sth i should be looking out for? Will try to post some images tonight. |

wow.. .this is interesting... a variation in noise level at different iso levels. Anyone has more severe problems with it?

it all depends on personal/individual noise preference threshold, with proper exposure even at iso1600 its not a big problem to me, infact i kinda like the noise present when takin B&W pics..

To me noise is never an issue.
Imo, only poor exposure cause noise.

And uh... No, I don't face problems with the noise on both my bodies. Especially so when you mention its at such a low setting. I find up to 800 rather clean and 1600 still usable.
(of course cannot compare to 5D and the new MkIII. OMG. Nikon better has a good answer to the enemy camp. Haha)

Sometimes we worry too much about Noise technicalities that may bind us from really enjoying photography.

with my experience ISO 800 combine together with SB800 on proper exposure will take away the noise. most of my wedding shots is with ISO 800 or below. I'm satisfied with it.

As I have started with 35mm for almost 10 years,I really miss FF & the good old 28-70 F2.8 ED with 17-35 2.8 ED. Been stuck with a small viewfinder, 17-55DX & 12-24DX for too long. ![]() |

Have you ever wondered how the film shooters of the past get by? I think by the current standards of what is considered noisy, I think ISO800 film would have be deemed unacceptable.

Mine one is ok up to ISO800.Looks like the Nikon always has a problem with their Noise Control over ISO400.
