Hi
Just got a 580II and am using it with a 5D, encountering some problems, wonder if any of you have the same problems. I think the contact has some problem, because sometimes the flash just doesnt register the lens settings (ie the focal length i am on) and fires at full power, obviously, everything becomes washed out Sometimes it doesnt fire. Anyone encountering such or any other problems? Please share, also suggest solutions if any. The problem is i cant get this problem to show up all the time, if not i would have visted Canon Service Centre. Mostly, the problem is solved by either turning off and on the flash or remounting it. But it can be the long term solution as many shots are lost due to this! Thanks! |

Hi, do face problem on this issue. Maybe due to the compatibility design between the old and new hotshoe design and mounting type. It occured on other camera bodies as well, other than MK3.
. To rectify the issue is to change the hotshoe at CSC, which have friends doing that and no problem after. Cheers! |

This is a Canon problem and we have to pay for the change?! Any indication how much does it cost? |

it is cheaper swaping the MII with a M1 from some willing party then to change the hot shoe.

send it in to canon anyway .. explain to them that it is intermittent and get them to investigate
