did a quick scan and found that there's a Sharp T1803H 18" LCD going for $999. Do you guys think this is a good model?

also, would anyone know which shop allow for testing of LCD monitors for dead pixels before purchase?

Actually, Philips is much better nowadays. Do take a good look at the 18" Philips and reconsider. Its going for $999 now.

I'm not an expert on monitor reviews.... and this is my first LCD monitor.

Thinks seems to work pretty fine.

It could be a dead pixel, why not you ask for an exchange.

You should go back to the shop you purchased the LCD for the exchange. BTW, did they let you check on the LCD before the payment was made?

How do you find viewing/editing photo in your LCD Monitor? Better than the old monitor(sharper image for the same photo)?

It's sharper But do notice at 1:1 that the image is "pixelated". I also need to tone down the default brightness and backlight.

btw, I've changed the monitor to the Samsung 171N cos I can't stand the dead pixel.....

Thanks for the feedback. Have you try playing VCD/DVD, is the colour as vivid as TV?

Color looks better on the LCD when playing back DVDs

Haven't really played much with the 171N yet but think Sharp is still better in terms of color reproduction and controls. I could tone down the brightness more with the Sharp model than Samsung 171N (personal preference).
