Hi all
How is the performance of this lens? I was told that there is something wrong with the motor and is rather noisy during focusing... Any comments?

Have you seen/hear the actual motor making noise when focusing? As ihub88 mention, can send in to NSC to replace the AF-S motor if is faulty and not usable. |

I bought one 6 months ago. No regrets. Lens is excellent. Noise from motor same as all the other AFS lens - none. Only downside is that is that it is a bit on the heavy side...

AFS cannot be noisy cause SWM stands for Slient wave motor. |

In my opinion..i think the salesguy does not have stock for tis lens..so trying to psycho u to get another lens..in any cases, always check the lens urself before buying it..even if u have read alot of good reviews abt the lens..in the end its still u using it..

Yes...
I am thinking of getting the 17-35, 28-70 and the 70-200mm lens.. the trinity set.. Currently I own only the 18-200mm and the 105mm VR Micro lens.. the 18-200 is a great travel lens.. but i think for shots in Singapore or up to Msia, i will bring the trinity set.... is the above advisable?

Just a slight OT please but if there a poor man's equivalent of the below-mentioned trinity?
Don't have to be zooms or AF

Wahh...
Bro, strike 4D/ Toto/ Big Sweep top prize is it?? I've done a rough calculation, and even based on Grey Set pricing, also need to pay bout $6K - $7K...Anyway and you'll not need to buy anymore zoom lenses for the rest of your photography life, unless you're not getting another Nikkor...![]()

How about 18-55 55-200
or 18-70 70-300 Heh. Budget setups that cover all the range you need :P Unfortunately no f/4 variants like what you find in a particular competitor's lineup or lenses.
