Ok folks,
I am having some dilemma here. Currently, I am experiencing some limitations with my ST-E2 and looking for other alternative to trigger my Canon flashes. My set-up is as follows: 1. EOS 5D + 24-70 2. 580EX x 2 + 430EX 3. ST-E2 I was shooting a gig recently and had some problems triggering my flashes. Pocketwizards aside, I was thinking of getting this for my set-up. Anyone has any experience using this? If you do, any problems using it with Canon flashes? Thanks in advance. Cheers! |

hello good bro.
the wireless radio trigger is good stuff. only downside is its not compatible with canon flash batt pack. when connected it will randomly trigger itself. other then that, its good. |

hazmee,
IIRC, the trigger would have problem with 430EX. try it out at PQ's place first. but anyway, I see that you've got 2 pieces of 580ex too. well, it's worth it IMO |

Hazmee,
Go to Ruby Photo at Peninsula Shopping Centre and ask for the Impact radio triggers. Its the 4th generation of radio triggers. The ones that I got from ebay (similar to those sold in CS) are generation one or two. Problems arose with my 580EX and 550EX which flashes randomly. Units used by my SPH friend only exhibited problems after a few months of usage. The Impact one has no prob as Mr Ho at Ruby has informed me. |

Beside PW, i also using it 3 set receiver and 1 set transmitter, but...i use all nikon flash with my 1dmk2 or 10d, using Manual or A mode. My opinion, in crowded place, try not to use it, sometimes it trigger by it self coz radio noise, takes sometimes to make it stable, but in the quiet place, its better.
Too make it works in canon flash is easy, just tape in the 4 pin on the camera/ flash, leave the centre pin only, make sure there is no shortcut between those 4 pin. i modified the trigger so i can put external antenna, and the receiver i modified so can hold flash and the stand better, you can see here. now my 3rd receiver no more battery power, im still planning how to modified with new box to accept AA battery, more cheaper. i have another extra 1Channel Transmitter and 2 receiver, modified with my own box to accept AA battery, let me know if you want to borrow it, just come down to my place. how about trying these out? www.gadgetinfinity.com. Just ordered mine not too long ago. Tried it indoors for testing fired reliably - much better than the old jinbei triggers i had. build is not so good for the receivers but its cheap and seems to work reliably so far. using a 5D with 580ex.

been using the GI (gadget infinity) triggers for sometime already and so far it never
fails. cant complain much abt GI triggers as the price is only a small fraction from the PW triggers while it serves the same purpose. |

Thanks for the pointer.
"The transmitter emits radio signal to the receiver when shutter is pressed. The receiver, once picks up the signal, will trigger off the external flash unit. Highest responding time is 1/1000s." |
