2b/c are good for portraits. you might want to fine tune the color/tone/sharpness. D range is dynamic range only for STD mode. It is to increase the exposure latitude by 2 extra stops (400%). Use when the scene is high contrast. Note that it only works for the highlights NOT the shadows so your shadows must still be exposed correctly. Best is to check the histogram to decide. I usually keep it on in STD mode. for WB try auto white balance. If the results are poor, then try the existing fluorescent/incandescent lights settings. If still cannot then use a gray card and set it as one of the presets. I find the last the most accurate if got funky coloured walls/floors etc. iso 200/400--not much difference in terms of noise. you can set it to auto iso so that the camera automatically chooses the iso setting. |

ISO 100 to 800 are all quite usable, depending on the brightness of your subject and the stability of your hands/subject, whether you can shoot at 1/60 or 1/15.
1600 is quite desperate but still bettr than most other cams. 3200 is for the deperate, but if you can downgrade the 6MP to 3MP, ISO 3200 looks pretty good. |
