They indeed charged high for a reason.

But they used the EF 500mm f/4L IS USM as a reference. Wonder if the other Canon lenses are manufactured in the same way.

i would to see the 5 kings for canon making the 1200mm lens.. haha.. =)

Hahaha....today first time saw a 1200mm at the Canon EOS Experience Day. Doesn't look so huge but costs over $150K.

Yeah i agree. It's not as sharp as the 300mm f/2.8L IS USM that i've tested on a 1Ds MK II. Perhaps its due to the extreme focal length.

Doesn't look huge? U kidding me! That was a Monster and I doubt I can carry it.
Anyway, I used the lens to take a photo of my balcony... amazing that I can photograph my balcony from so far away!!!
But yah, sharpness of this lens is not so good. But it would be tough to make such a long lens really sharp... maybe not possible at this time?

It's not that huge when compared to Leica's 1600mm f/5.6 APO. The EF 1200mm weighs 16.5kg so it's a little heavier than 3 bags of rice.
