How does S5is compared to the other reputed superzooms like FZ50, S6500fd, SP550UZ, H9 etc..

used H9 and SP550UZ...

H9 good for its versatility... huge screen and rather powerful zoom and macro capability... butta image quality sama sama as H5... and body feels a bit weird in some sense... ~$790 with 512mb and printer

SP550UZ 18X zoom is awesome, even T&C of the promo board 8m away could be seen clearly... but macro sucks... even at a few cm away(~4cm) from its own box, Text appeared as blurred out image.. ~$730 with 1GB xD

S5 anyone tried yet? see image quality at canon webby ini good sia.. ~$799 with 2GB and more...

hooting next week as of what CAnon mentioned(stock will arrive next week)

bean u should try Sony H9... might change ur perspective towards camera...

Are you sure? I've tried the macro on this quite a few times, and have gotten tack sharp images.

It could be that

1) You are too near
2) Camera or you focused incorrectly
3) There was camera shake of some sort.
