i wanted to try out the "toy effect" using photoshop.
so this is my first time.
PS: picture taken using quite a old digi cam, so not very good quality.

    Nice effect.
But since your title is esplanade, why is it out of focus?

Mmm, effect is done pretty well, at least to me.
Framing can be slightly improved though - exclude the minor distraction at the top and perhaps clone away the dot on the top right in the sea, and this makes a pretty good picture with the TTE (toy train effect).

Looks fun to me, and very well done. Two things affect me when it comes to it trying to look like a toy, firstly is the Singapore flag, its too fluid to look like a small toy, secondly are the foreground vegetations, looks too real to be a toy. Other then that, I enjoyed your creation very much!!

to make the tilt shift effect you need to frame the blur parts and the clear parts strategically. You should shift the focus slightly towards the center. right now it's too low so the effect isn't as obvious.

also try to up the contrast when doing tilt shift.

    thanks for all your comments.
1)I have shifted the focus slightly up to the center
    2)cropped the top part away
    3) removed the black spot on the upper right corner
    4)increase the contrast

    Heres the new picture:

hope i did the correct adjustment (:

try instead of pulling the gradient vertically... try pulling it diagonally... so the cars can be focused
