No more inkjet for me, several inkjet die due to the print head problem. Some times clean until the whole cartridge empty still not solved, really a nightmare to me.
Is laserjet suffer from the same issue? Any problem for Laserset if I long time not using it? Any reasonable price Laserjet to intro to me? |

Colour laser printers can give punchy but not very accurate output. The cost of the machine itself is coming down but wait till you see the cost of the replacement cartriges
Probably better suited for office type colour documents. I still think those high end inkjet printers or dye-sub printers have the edge in colour fidelity. |

I use a Fuji Xerox Docuprint C525A. The print quality is superb whether color or black & white. Colour reproduction is not accurate cos toner powder has limited dynamic range. Cost is an issue. The toner cartridges are rated at 4000 pages @ 5% coverage. The drum is rated at 20,000 pages @ 5% coverage. I have been printing full colour pages (i.e. 100% coverage) since I got the printer last year. I have switched through 2 sets of toner cartridges already for all colours (including the original cartridges which were good for only 2000 pages). The drum has died on me recently... definitely printing only a fraction of the 20,000 pages rating (about 500 - 600 pages) It will cost me $500+ I think to replace the drum. Btw, colour toner cartridges cost $197 each while the black toner cartridge costs $119. Works out to about $700 per pop every u change the toner cartridges.
U decide if it is cost effective. Btw, for extended printing, the printer gets very hot and paper can get jammed easily. And u can get burnt solving the jamming as the internals get very hot as I found out a few times already. The printer also weighs about 20kg... and last but not least, all toner cartridges must have toner powder before the printer will operate. If any of the colour toner cartridges are out, you can't print black and white... the printer will simply prompt u to get the empty cartridge changed. I think this is the case for all laser printers... inkjets don't suffer from this I think. Haven't used one for ages though... |

Low end colour lasers go to hp. I have read lots of reviews b4 settling on hp. Generally, low end lasers have higher cost/page cos toner have lower page rating.
Be careful with hp 1600. This model (and most entry models from other makers) have only half toner cartridges. Go for the hp 2600n instead. Cost $100 more but u get a full toner and LAN interface. The full toner alone is definitely worth more than the $100 extra. Nowadays, I only send photos to the developer. Definitely more cost effective than DIY via inkjet or laser. Quality is also higher. Have fun ![]() |
